Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Piklum ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects your data when you use our Shopify app for AI-powered product photo enhancement. Piklum is operated by Ange Labs, a sole proprietorship registered in France (SIRET 10537034000017).
By installing Piklum on your Shopify store, you agree to this policy. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@piklum.com.
2. Data we collect
When you install and use Piklum, we collect the following data through the Shopify API:
- Store information: store name, myshopify domain, primary email address of the store owner
- Product data: product IDs, titles, and featured image URLs (only for products you actively process with Piklum)
- Product images: the images you choose to process are temporarily sent to our AI providers for background removal and alt text generation
- Usage data: number of photos processed, timestamps, cost data (for billing quota tracking)
- Enhancement history: records of processed images (product ID, generated alt text, Shopify media ID) stored for the rollback feature
We do NOT collect:
- Customer personal data of your store
- Order or payment data of your store
- Any data unrelated to the photo enhancement feature
3. How we use your data
We use the collected data solely to:
- Provide the photo enhancement service (background removal, alt text generation)
- Write results back to your Shopify product pages (via the Shopify Admin API)
- Maintain an enhancement history for the rollback feature
- Enforce subscription plan quotas and prevent abuse
- Contact you regarding your subscription or support requests
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.
4. Third-party service providers
Piklum uses the following third-party providers to deliver its service:
- remove.bg (Kaleido AI GmbH, Austria) — for AI background removal. Product images are sent temporarily via HTTPS and are not stored by remove.bg after processing. See remove.bg privacy policy.
- Anthropic (Claude) (Anthropic PBC, USA) — for AI-generated alt text. Product images and titles are sent temporarily via HTTPS. Anthropic does not train models on API data by default. See Anthropic privacy policy.
- Cloudflare (Cloudflare Inc., USA) — for app hosting and CDN. See Cloudflare privacy policy.
- Shopify (Shopify Inc., Canada) — for authentication, billing, and API access. See Shopify privacy policy.
5. Data retention
Enhancement history (product IDs, media IDs, alt text, timestamps) is retained for the entire duration of your Piklum subscription. When you uninstall Piklum from your store, all your enhancement history is permanently deleted within 30 days.
Product images sent to remove.bg and Anthropic are processed in memory and are not stored by us or by our providers after processing (typically less than 10 seconds).
6. Your GDPR rights
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:
- Right to access: request a copy of your data we hold
- Right to rectification: request corrections to inaccurate data
- Right to erasure: request deletion of all your data (uninstalling Piklum triggers this automatically within 30 days)
- Right to portability: request an export of your data in a standard format
- Right to object: object to certain processing activities
- Right to withdraw consent: at any time

7. Security
All data transmission uses HTTPS. Our infrastructure is hosted on Cloudflare and Shopify, which are SOC 2 Type II certified. We use industry-standard practices (encryption at rest, access controls, rate limiting) to protect your data.
8. Data breach notification
In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your data, we will notify you within 72 hours and take appropriate action to mitigate the impact.
9. Children's privacy
Piklum is a B2B service and is not intended for use by individuals under 16 years old. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we will notify you via email.
